Music Theory Board?

We had a similar thread like this before. It got knocked back, with the general response being something along the lines of "guitar q&a is fine for this sort of thing"
Myself, I don't see it as a bad idea.

I think I brought this up once a long time ago and it has been discussed with Rob before, last time he shot the idea down I do believe as it really is not all that necessary since there are never a whole slew of theory topics popping up.
Really what I would like to do instead is make an FAQ for Guitar Q&A on music theory. I have a fair amount of background with music theory, however most of my experience comes from theory on a horn instead of on guitar, so its a little different implimenting what I know for guitar since all my theory and scale stuff is for the saxophone.
If anyone wants to get in on a project like this, feel free to PM me anything you have and I will start compiling things for an FAQ, especially complex scales, various modes and stuff like that. Anything you think is key for guitar theory, send it my way. I can write up basic scales as well as the chromatic scale for guitar as I do know them fairly well. This could turn out fairly well if it is done right, I have time on almost a daily basis since I only work 8 hours a day and I should be able to do theory things when I am home.

I'm guessing you play Alto? All you do is go up 3 semitones to transpose to standard pitch.

Well yes, that much is obvious, however I sometimes find it odd doing scales for guitar, at least writing them out can be. I know the notes of most major scales, but beyond that I need a crash course in it for guitar and I think this could be a good learning experience for myself as well as others. I am willing to put forth some effort to compile a whole bunch of theory stuff to post on GTU.

There are some people who have been doing theory posts for ages. Ninjato, Thrasher, myself... I know Dadfad's the authority on everything so he probably has been too. It might be easier to just go back and pick out some posts on the theoretical subjects than to spend hours reworking what's already been done.

I'd suggested this a while ago, and even sent a few PMs to Rob about it, but with no result. I think it'd be a great idea myself. Theory questions are asked in almost every forum on these boards, so it's hard to find your answer. I think if we can focus all the theory related questions into one forum, or one FAQ as AS suggested, it'd help out a lot.

Well I am doing something at the moment but it is going to take some time to do. I am spending my free time tabbing out scales right now, if anyone wants to add stuff to the FAQ or just send me suggestions, send me in a PM and I will put it in. There are a lot of scales to cover but I should have that done in a day or two, I have been using a program to generate major scales for me so I can tab them out in Notepad.

There are a variety of programs that generate scales and convert them to ASCII.
