I have played harp, mostly blues, for several years. I am adding guitar and harp in a rack. I am about to buy a 12 string acoustic and was wondering what kind of problems I will have with harp accompanying a 12 string tuned down to d or c. Is it as easy as dropping the harp key (cross harp) as you would think. Anyone. Thanks in advance.

I don't think you should have any problems as long as you drop the harp key to the same degree as you detune or lower the tuning of the guitar. For example if normally the guitar tuned in standard concert pitch for a blues played in the key of E requires a harmonica in the key of A to play cross harp to it and you were to tune the guitar down to D, then to play harp on the same song which is in the key of E (song key) then you would need to use a harmonica in the Key of G to play along with the guitar cross harp. (hope that makes sense). Welcome.

Crawdaddy is right. It should be no problem at all. I've been playing rack-harp for many years to a 12 tuned down a step or step and a half (generally country-blues, usually cross-harp) with no problems. Oh, if you're tuned down to C you might wanna get a low-tuned F as well as the more common hi-tuned F harp. Excellent Little Walter-ish style "rumble" to it (with phenominal bends). And welcome to GTU.

Thanks for the responses. Kinda what I thought. Using those low and high tuned harps will probably be useful info.

And as a side note.....the little danelectro amp with an 8" speaker nails that Little Walter sound.
Just throw a mike in front of it and look out.
