First of all thanks very much to those who entered. We want to make this a yearly thing, so thanks for getting the ball rolling; you have the honour of being the very first entrants. I'm about to post a thread asking for ideas for next year's contest - we want to make it bigger and better, more inclusive, with fantastic prizes, perhaps even getting guitar magazines and companies involved to promote and donate. We're ambitious and we want you to be too. So thanks for entering and join us again next year.

Now then. The winner, which you have all been waiting for! It was a great effort, well recorded, ladies and gentlemen the winner is testify with 'Single Handed Sailor'! Well done testify. You win lots of cool prizes - I've PMed you. Hon menshes also to Graeme and tml, whose efforts the judges also liked. We want more entries next year, so don't sit on your hands. Testify will testify (boom boom) to the great prizes on offer, and next year we'll have different categories or 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes - so no need to be put off from entering if you don't think you'll win. We want this to be part of the GTU community, an inclusive and fun contest, where everyone can take a role organising and voting if they wish. You've gotta be in it to win it.

Well done testify. You may go forth and put 'Winner of GTU Song Contest 2007' in your signature. (Make yourself a banner if you know how.) Prestige and fighting off girls with a big stick shall follow.

Jenn, this is contest that 4000HolesInBlackburnLancashire started ages ago, and then stopped going online for ages. I got people asking me if the contest was still going, so as a moderator, I ressurrected it. I didn't judge, I just... oversaw things. Makes no difference to me who wins, though it'd be lovely to see more participation next year. Thanks to all the entrants, to 4000Holes for the idea, and to Joe, Quinnfrie and Billiards for judging. We're open to ideas for next year's, how to make it better.

And SOG, yes we want to make it yearly but we'll be posting about it in plenty of time so people can be working on recordings.
