I just want something that isnt too expensive that plays really well. I am more interested in a 4 string electric mandolin (anyone is familiar with Boyd Tinsley might have seen him playing a Fender Mandocaster I think it is), however those are really hard to find generally, I would not mind one that I can plug into my electric amp though as opposed to using an acoustic amp for one. Any suggestions?

Epiphone makes the Mandobird, but I'm not sure on its quality.

Yeah, I was thinking about that one. I saw some reviews on Music123 and it sounds like a solid axe, however I will have to try it sometime when I am downtown.

Scour Ebay as well... there are usually a bunch of 4 string electric mando's on there. A mandobird is a solid choice though.
