ive just bought one on a whim and cant get anything out of it other than mouse farts .............ohw i just got some propper notes. anyone got any tips please?

I bought a maui xaphoon about 3 or 4 years ago, I've got the ABS one. I love to break it out at christmas time and do jazzed up classics. (one man manhiem steamroller)
I find the embroucher a little more difficult than on my clarinet and sax because of the blunt end. You have to open a little wider than you would on an ordinary reed instrument.
I'd check out the sax sites for competant advice on blowing. It's really easy to over blow on these things so the second octave is super easy to use and with the blunt mouth piece you'll find yourself bending notes with ease. Also because of the open finger hole design it's pretty easy jet into quater note intervals.

It real easy to become a virtuioso on a xaphoon.
