There shouldn't be a problem, just use heavier strings so your tone won't suck balls.

edit: I just called one of my jamming buddies, he has an electro acoustic and he has electric guitar strings on it, and they work just fine.

I use electric guitar strings on my Epiphone EJ160-E because it has a magnetic pickup. On my Yamaha & Ovation a/e guitars I use acoustic guitar strings. Using electric guitar strings won't damage your guitar, but you may not like the way it sounds.

No problems at all. The main diffrence between electric and acoustic strings is the type of metal used. Electric strings are the vibrating motor in an open generator and so favor more magnetic metal content. Acoustic strings rely on direct transfer of kinetic energy to the bridge and so are often made of oomphier (Valid technical term!) metal such as bronze or brass.
As long as the strings are of a similiar gauge, you'll notice little differance through a P.A. in a studio the electrics will be a little tinny but nothing you can't take care of.

Just don't make any mistakes, I hear the dude in charge uses lightning bolts for effect.
Just an idea... Not an actual serving suggestion.

the problem w/ using acoustic strings on a magnetic system is that the EADG strings will have less effect on the pickups while the B and high E string howl.

I would not advise it and if you did, you'd waste a whole pack of strings. Been there, done that.

Very much agreed, but in this case it's electric strings to an acoustic. Unless he's got a rail or somthing it'll be going to a piezeo or internal mic pickup and the only issue should be lower volume due to the lower mass of the strings.
