One of the local stores is selling a Fender Bassman combo for 300 CAD, and considering it's size and wattage (I think it's 150 watts), it might be the gift for my brother this year. He wanted a Line 6 Spider bass amp but considering it is double the price and has features that would be better suited for a Bass POD XT Live or something like that if he wants effects. Still though, I think the price is right and it would be a good buy, but alas I know little about bass amps. The nice thing is that the amp has gain and an output level so the amp can be cranked without destroying the house, not to mention a jack for plugging the amp into a mixing board for recording.

I'd go for it. The Bassman is an amazingly awesome amp.

Already been bought a few weeks ago. 400 bucks ain't a bad price really.

$400 for a bassman is a steal.

It is though it's one of the newer models, it was second hand and my brother wanted a new bass amp for Christmas. Can't complain about the price though, 150 watts should be enough for a 16 year old.

That was my last amp, it treated me well untill I started playing bigger venues.
