Hi there,

I recently got windows vista and I'm trying to do my usual recordings using Adobe Audition 2.0 and its only recording on the left channel. and the timing is a few milliseconds off from picking up anything I play, Making it very difficult to make a song dry.gif .

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem or something similar and how I could fix it.

Thanks A lot.

Let me guess, you record using the line-in of your soundcard and are going straight into it ? You're using a stereo cable and a guitar, is still very much a mono signal. Hence it only picks up on the left channel. Back in the day when Audition was Cool Edit (and I used it then, so my references might be off) you could set it to record only the left channel (right click on a track I believe and a menu should pop up).

The timing gap is known as latency. Ideally if your soundcard supports ASIO use the ASIO protocol as your sound driver (should be able to find it under Audition's setup somewhere if it's available), if not try to lower the buffer size of your soundcard to increase response times.

forget all that jerry rigging for recording.

Bend over and go get yourself a LINE 6 Toneport UX2 USB interface.

Pff, screw that, give me my 24 channel mixer sending ASIO stereo returns through an ADAT connect via optical interfaces. Simultaneous recordage of multiple instruments each on their own stereo track. wub.gif

However most people on these boards aren't quite as mad as myself or have better things to save up for and if the answer to the question such as asked here works can be answered without spending money, power to them, so back on topic, I had a look about at a friends who uses the software, it's very much like I explained, just one right click on the channel strip away.
