Regarding storage.

First off this thing rocks. Such a nice warm tone and really works awesome. It makes even my voice sound better! Anyway I was just wondering how I should store it. Is it important to unplug the mic cable when Im done with it? Will it cause a problem if I dont do it? Should it be stored any special way? Would it hurt to leave it out? Also, I am interested if anyone has any ideas on how to come up with a makeshift mic stand, as Im not ready for all that but I would like to have some way to suspend it . . .

And lastly . . . look out for more recordings from me, hopefully I can show some advancement!

In case anyone is wondering, Im running it into my Digitech JamMan pedal, then USB to my CPU to Cool Edit to do some fine editing.

You don't have to unplug the cable or anything. Just make shure the diaphragm stays clean. Shures come with those nice leather pouches, so just store 'em in there.

I always put my mics away when I'm not using them, but there's no real need to. As for a makeshift micstand, you can buy nice K&M stands for about $20 ish, so why not get one of those.

Other than that, clever duct taping never hurt anyone, just make sure the mic has room to breathe (which is a stupid way of saying, just make sure the make shift stand doesn't obstruct the mic from doing what it's meant to do: i.e. picking up sound.

Makeshift mic stand... just buy a mic stand.

Storage mics don't lime dust or ciggy smoke.

Life is like a musical by Andrew Lloyd-Webber. Very popular and not as bad as some would have you believe. That is, unspeakably awful but mercifully brief.

Dude......you are being paranoid...I understand all your other "equipment" woes of late but the Shure mic is tough. You can let a mack truck run over it and it will still perform.

A mic stand is $20.....bend over and get one.

I have 2 mics (we've talked about this) the SM57 and the Electro Voice N/D767a. I have them both on their own mic stand and have it out in my office/studio. THe cables are plugged into where they need to be. They work everytime I need them to.

I do have an expensive condenser vocal.acoustic mic and I leave that in the box. I haven't even found a need for it....yet.

yeah the SM-57 is pretty solid. I am working on some covers but I have a brutal stretch of ten days straight working . . .
