Seriously, no one uses them for anything at all, they are just wasting space to me and they aren't helping most people I don't think. Besides, look at all the crap that is posted in that forum.

It is rare that the wiki page discussions get used, but wiki articles are a good way to share knowledge. Have you ever checked out Dorio's page? He has a damn lot of useful and fun stuff.

Jen: It's funny this comes up now, because I was about to update mine but was waiting for more material to put up there. Acousticsmash: the topics in the wiki forum are made by the system and I don't think that it all bothers anyone but you because you are the first to complain about it. By your logic, I could say this topic is a waste of space because I don't care much for it.

I can see Smashy's point, as I kinda feel the same way, but he can't speak for everyone when he makes a point like that. I'm sure there are plenty of people who find the wiki thing useful.

Some people use them, but I see a lot of garbage in the Wiki Discussion forum, either it needs to be modified so that no one can actually make topics manually, which is what a lot of people seem to do. Plus half the Discussion links lead to nothing at all but pages like this: http://www.guitarzon...ke_on_the_water

Could you kindly link me to a "manually made topic?" I don't seem to find them. And your link is just another page to be edited. It's wikipedia anyone can do it!

The point is that no one does it. The Wikipage Discussion forum never gets used, and that is what really needs to be removed imo. If people are not even creating Wiki articles all the time, why have them?

Whenever I've looked there tit's empty.

I don't understand the Wiki pages, suppose that's puts me on the "let it go" side.

Life is like a musical by Andrew Lloyd-Webber. Very popular and not as bad as some would have you believe. That is, unspeakably awful but mercifully brief.

The point is, like I already said, the system makes topics in that forum. Just leave them alone. It isn't hard to do.

No one is supposed to do it! The topics are meant to be created automatically. Just think of the Wiki forum as an index for all the Wiki articles. When someone makes a new article, the entry is automatically created in the Wiki forum, or "index" as we're calling it.

Yeah but when people are making the Wiki articles, most of them don't get filled in. Go to the first 10 topics in the Wiki Discussion forum and see if there are articles with information in them. Heck, the only two on the first page are the Rickenbacker page made by junior01 and the Magical Mystery Tour album review that dorio made. And I am curious as to know why album reviews would be placed there when we have an Album Review forum.

Yeah, I can see your point regarding that. Although, I'm sure there's a lot of other useful information on there, and it would be a pity to get rid of it just because of something like that. Maybe sorting it a bit better would make more sense?

We have one album review forum? Cool! We shud use it!

Me i'm curious to know since when you made it your business to openly judge what I do with my wiki page? Are you the administrator of this site? We all have the freedom to do what we choose with our page so that's what I do with mine.. I put reviews and stuff to be edited by anyone who want

(And if you don't like it, then stay away. At least in mine, - unlike yours - there is something inside tumbleweed.gif)

Go play guitar AS
Let the pretend take over
And that season be the first
Shadows we're in become us
So we set up interspersed
Between here and away
Become your space every day

You, like everyone else in this thread does not seem to get my point. Either moderate the Wiki articles so that they get information put inside them instead of just sitting there collecting dust and remaining empty, or get rid of the whole process all together. Why have it if it is going to get ignored by the majority of people who use this site? I am sure more people would use it if there were regular contributions by all the members but it seems only the elite few use the function anymore. It just seems like random pages get created but people don't follow through and write something.

Oh, for gods sake! Don't you ever listen AS? dry.gif

We told you the website makes topics there [though anyone logged in can reply or edit] you're not supposed to!!! So why worry about that? That's the way it goes, so... let it be

What a pity. Lots of people like you, don't seem to understand the wiki concept. It's not only about putting articles up but also editing articles. That's what wiki is all about.

Example: that Rush mini biography you just wrote needs pics, headers, and internal links to make it look nicer, and make navigation easier (links to related wiki pages) Hopefully someone will take care of that. Forget the wiki sub forum smile.gif
