So I bought this Ektara about six months ago and it creates a nice sound but I can only play like one or two rythems on it as like a backing drone. I know its only got one string but I can't help think I should be doing more.
Any ideas/advice?

Dude, it's a drone instrument.
It's kind of like a bass.

Fúck I love the thought of someone being so bad at standing that they seriously injure their beanbags.

Use a slide maybe? (Not having a clue what an ektara is...) Lots of old-school blues guys first learned slide on a single wire nailed onto a board called a "diddley board."
Un-plugged is not the same as
never-was-plugged-in-to-begin-with.

To be fair HeteroBoy said it in one, it is a drone instrument. After a while though I was maybe just expecting a bit more from it.
Dadfad my dad suggested the same thing although I dont know how it would work as you use one hand to pluck/strum the string and the othe to flex the wooden sides if that makes sense? Heres a picture if that helps..

No. I know what you're thinking. First of all, with the slide thing, I thought of that too. haha But it wouldn't work.
The only point of a drone instrument is to make simple drones. (Okay, I'm sure there are many now that can do more.. but yeah)
I made a drone instrument with 4 strings and was very disappointed when i found out I could ONLY play 4 notes.
It's not an instrument that you just play alone to jam. lol
But it sounds very nice with other instruments.
