If the legality of tabs is a issue why Priest have tabs to thier songs on this site?

I am puzzled by this. i was gonna tab a song and started searching for it and stumbled upon this. I think it is cool if it is the main official website. I downloaded all of them smile.gif But I still have to tab the solo to the song I wanted but they show them on youtube playing it. it will be easy.

And even Yngwie

Because they own the rights to their own songs by now and can do with them as they please? unsure.gif

I know they own the rights. But I thought the whole issue is money? I really don't think most bands care excluding Metallica if someone tabs a song. But the issue I am raising someone tabbed these are they getting thier royalties? I don't think K.K or Glen tabbed them. And the Yngwie one said they was copied out a book. I just got upset with this whole issue even more when I seen this. So I was just ranting carry on rolleyes.gif

I think it's the music companies themselves that are raising the issues, not so much the bands. I don't know a whole lot about copyright, but a lot of the time artists don't own their own material 100%. I remember a few years ago Michael Jackson bought the rights to all the Beatle's songs after their copyright expired.

I think most music companies own the music rights. But I am still gonna put the lyrics with my tabs. I will not copy out of a book and never have. I haven't had to buy a book in a long time happy.gif

my guess is that they recieve royalties when someone covers their song, so since they own the rights to their songs, they can encourage people to learn how to play their songs. Also, both Yngwie and Priest are very active contributors to Guitar World magazine, so their tabs are readily available to just about anyone anyway.
