Ummm.....you might provide a tad more info??
You bought this amp? Then wouldn't you know the power of said amp? I seriously doubt that you will "blow" the speaker unless you put another power source through it, i.e., an additional power amp. The amp will distort and fart if you are driving it too hard....it will tell YOU to let up a bit!
As for outside gigs - we play them regularly and I am using my MarkBass CMD 121P combo quite a lot lately. I'm not familiar with your particular rig, but mine is 450 watts at 8 Ohm, so it's plenty loud for "most" shows. However, I ALWAYS use PA support when playing outside - that way I don't have to worry about "pushing" my amp - and everyone gfets to hear better!
Hope this helps a little!

I don't have a GK but I'm semi familiar with them. I think those tiny combos are designed to be extended with an additional cab for just such occasions. If that's not an option I would suggest dialing out low low frequencies (60-80Hz) and boosting low mids (100-150Hz) in order to prevent your speaker from flapping and increase efficiency in the range that can be heard and felt. And if you still can't keep up with the Joneses you could defeat that smiley button (mid-cut) which most GK users have permanently engaged and re- EQ with just the knobs. The preshape scoops mids fairly extremely that could be used (to get back in the mix) at low cost to your limited resources if you're already fry'n eggs n' fart'n.
