Alright, I am getting pissed off with my brother f*cking around with my World of Warcraft software because he wants to be a douche and play it on a private server whereas I play it legit on the paid servers. So I want to block the bastard from accessing all of the software associated with the game so he can't modify it because quite frankly I am getting pissed off with having to reset all my settings and running a repair before I can play.

Anyone know how I can block modification of my program on XP from other user accounts? Since I am an administrator, I put his account on limited instead of being an admin level account like mine and my dad's so hopefully this will stop him from modifying my game but I am not going to hold my breath.

It would take about 5 seconds to fix in Unix. chmod FTW!

Well I modified his user account but that did not do anything because he is still able to run the WoWscape Server Launcher program which winds up overriding the real World of Warcraft launcher program. Is there a way of blocking that application from running on the computer?

If you have the space, you can just have 2 installs on the same computer. It doesn't take much either. WoW works just by copying/pasting the folder. So have one roughly 8 gig folder for Blizzard, and another for Private servers.

Haha it takes about 10 GB's of storage space with the expansion and the server launcher programs are required to read the same destination folder, although I can try to modify it.

When I played private servers. I made a shortcut straight to the executable. And unless they've changed something, or this private server he plays is different than the one I use to somehow, there's no reason you can't have 2 folders. I set it up for a friend of mine who payed for Blizzard and played Private when he wanted to play with us. All it took was a copy and paste of the WoW folder and changing the new ones realmlist and patch version.

I copied all the files over to my brothers documents folder and set the WoWscape application to target the same .exe file in his documents folder that was in the Program Files folder so I hope that works.
