I never cared much for the drumming in Oasis myself, Bernard.
In that context I'd say one of the greatest advantages of being an "old school" is because Old Is Gold. New drummers tend to overdo it in my opinion.... Same for the new guitarists. Discretion is the Key! So is feeling
A drummer is not supposed to sound like a lumberjack
Yet lots of them do, they hurt my ears.

awesome all great drummers. i don't really think i could narrow it down 2 one drummer myself but i can name the ppl that got me into drumming is mainly Max Weinberg from the Max Weinberg seven mainly because i wanted to start drumming but my dad didn't like the idea of a drum set i the house lol but i would stay up l8 and watch him on the tonight show and beings he was the main attraction the camera stayed fixed on him while they played and did different sweeps and i would try and mimic it on my pillows with my drum sticks lol and then i don't remember what exactly changed my dads mind but he did finally break in and let me get an electronic set which in my opinion was kind of a nice choice cuz i can change different types and tune it without the chance of screwing it up for good and my accuracy is great cuz i am used to hitting these small pads and moving to real sized toms and having a wide angle to sweep as opposed to those small pads is nice. and needless to say jazz and groove came naturally from watching Max Weinberg for years now i know he isn't one of the greater drummers out there but it was a good start and another big one was Travis Barker a bit of a spazz but he is a great influence to watch and study and try to imitate.

Let me just say that Art Blakey is a very close second. He's a legend, but I'm giving "Chopes" my number one spot because I've been fortunate to see him play twice with Charlie Hunter--once at The Tralf in Buffalo and a year later at SUNY Fredonia. Seeing how he does so much with a stripped-down kit is surprising and impressive.

My favorite drummers are Carl Allen, John Blackwell, Ian Paice and David Silveria. These guys are unbeatable.
