I have a problem with my computer...When I start up my computer straight away when its loading it show this writing in red and flashing...I don't know what this means...

0 Degraded NVIDIA RAID5 745.22G
1 Error NVIDIA RAID5 745.22G

...My OS is Vista and I don't want to re-format my whole computer because I want to take information off of my computer [lack of backing up dry.gif] And I'm not really sure how to do system restore...If I do go through with System Restore though will it remove information which wasn't at the last checkpoint?...The only way to access my desktop at the moment is through SafeMode...

Of course my last resort would be to just wipe the whole system clean...but if I can save my music and files...I'll be REALLY happy biggrin.gif...

Any help welcome...!!

A system restore will not delete any files you created, although it will uninstall any programs you installed since the last check point. However, don't bet on it working. I usually get the "was not able to restore" message every time I try it. However, maybe the Vista version is more reliable.I don't how you access it in Vista either.

NVIDIA is most likely your video card . . . . My suggestion would be to reinstall the drivers for your video card and see if that addresses this situation. Methinks it will.

If it shows up during booting (before the OS loading screen appears) it's hinting at hardware failure, drivers aren't loaded yet at this point. Usually this means that the cooling fan of the video card is faulty. See if it's still under warranty and have it returned / replaced. I'd open the thing up first and see if it is inserted correctly into the slot though.

Note that this assumption of mine is only the case if the error you mentioned indeed appears before the Vista boot screen.

Can you give me a quick over view on how to go about this?....You don't have to go into too much detail....

Hmm by the OS loading screen you mean the Windows Logo then yes it does happen before that!...I'll give it a quick look over and see...thanks
