I bought a lightscribe drive yesterday and being an idiot I didn't notice that it said SATA on it. It won't fit in my PC or even my dads new one and CPC are renowned for not exchanging my orders so I was wondering it is possible to get an adapter to let me connect this SATA device to my IEDI system?

No, but every motherboard has a few SATA connectors on it, you don't need an adapter to connect it to IDE. The only real alternative if your computer doesn't have SATA capabilities, you are forced to use it as an external drive via USB.

Yes SATA to IDE adapters exist, but they're painfully slow and sometimes don't work at all. Here's a list on newegg: http://www.newegg.co.......amp;x=0&y=0

Since when would every motherboard have SATA connectors on it? A lot of computers are too old for that.

My desktop is 4 years old and has a SATA plug on it, heck one of the optical drives can run off SATA (although it is set to IDE). SATA isn't a new technology either, and if your computer can't use SATA then just run something as an external drive via a USB case. Computers 5 years old and newer will have SATA on their motherboards, since that was the year it was introduced.

You seem to forget that Smashy rarely knows what he's talking about. I bet he doesn't even know the difference between IDE and PATA.
