How the hell can I stop this happening?

So far Derf and Em have gotten messages from me, that I never sent. A few of my other contacts have gotten them too. How the hell do I kill this virus? I use the word "virus", as it seems like a worm, but it may be spyware either. The thing is, my PC is behaving normally, I'm not getting any random ads flashing up on screen. The weird thing is, these people are getting these random messages when I'm offline.

Any thoughts?

That means you've probably got a virus.

Well that's at least 5 people. It's funny, but it seems to be mostly GTUers that are getting them.

I'm regularly scanning my machine, so can people let me know whenever they get them? Cos that's the only way I know I'm having a problem. There are no other tell tale signs of infection on my PC.

I remember YEARS ago there was a virus that only targeted msn and still years ago but not as long ago there was one that only targed aim. The link was something like "check out my pictures! *link*" I'm sure there have been more, but that's just showing it happens. And not every virus/trojan/worm/etc is picked up by your antivirus software. Simply can't be. Doesn't make your computer impervious to that which they haven't discovered yet and added in the virus definitions. Then once it's there maybe it changes and isn't detectable in the same way as it is when you get it.

WHO KNOWS!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Jen. I tried googling but I could only find answers that you'd need a degree in computer science to be able to understand. I'm trying out some of those tips right now.
