"Perhaps you could make sure that your browser is set to show all images."
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that, but I checked my settings and they seem okay. I tried using Firefox and the same thing still happens. And I re-started again in case that might've helped.
It seems this happened after GTU went off-line last week.
Also, when I log on to the GTU site or go to another GTU page, at the bottom of my screen where it shows the it says "Done, but with errors on page." (I'm trying to do a screen-shot of my monitor, but I forgot how. I'll have to figure it out.)

I was asking about your browser settings just in case images were disabled as you say you cant see avatars icons quote reply buttons ect... seemed to be the problem but if you can see the sigs then its not that. Doesnt seem to be your board settings either but it wouldnt hurt to check.
There appears to be an error with the database.
You can try to refresh the page by clicking here
Your case is baffling John. If you want to do a screen shot just press the "screen" key open paint >>> file >>> paste and upload it. That would help a lot to solve the case.

It seems to me that something blocks you from viewing all images. You cant see my avatar you cant see my sig you cant see any buttons or icons or smilies... With the browser I use I'd fix that with the "show image" option... have you got a similar feature on IE?

And I know you said you enabled things, but just to make sure have you looked here: "In Internet Explorer, that's in Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and then in the Multimedia section of the list, there's an item Show Pictures."

No it doesn't work. (If I left-click a red-X avatar that doesn't show up (like yours), it takes me to your member page. It's funny how in some topics some of the members' avatars show up and some don't (including my own). None of the .gif images show.

And after reading an (albeit small) portion about your problem it seems that since it happens across different browsers it may be a security or adblocking problems. Have you tried lessening some security software?

It would be possible if you had made a backup image of your hard disk you could restore it now and get the settings of your browser exactly like they were before last Friday. I do one occasionally in case of crash. Better safe than sorry.
Now that message is very strange. Never seen one like that before. Could be one important clue to the problem.
And I like Audible's "security or adblocking problems" theory makes sense to me since you get the same problem with different browsers.

I checked my security settings and it's in the medium range (where it has always been) so that's not changed. As I was going through this-and-that yesterday looking for possible solutions I found (somewhere, I forget but I can find it again) a "system-restore" feature that says it can restore my computer to where it was at an earlier date. I didn't really get into it any further than that at the time.
As my computer is connected to a fairly large company server it would take quite a device to back up everything I have. However I do periodically save many of my more important personal folders and files that are on my personal hard drive to a couple of 8-gig SanDisc USB micro flash-drives.

Yes, it's perplexing to me. All I did was turn my computer off and on for the weekend as usual. And then this problem with GTU (no other sites I visit have the problem). Actually it's something I could probably live with if I had to. (But no GTU emoticons show on my screen either.

And now, as I refreshed this page, my emoticon now shows (but not others). Also, when I right-click some icons and pictures they open up (but not all of them).
A mystery....

(Here is one Obama's T Shirt for starters just to test if you can see it)

(And some Obama's bucks

Anyway...
I was thinking about the system restore you were mentioning and remembered I had to disabled it because its useless and can be dangerous. Suppose you fixed a virus that virus will remain in the system restore and be active again when you restore your system. Thats why like I said I prefer to do snap-shots every now and then.

I can see your pictures okay (but not your wink-smiley).
And my Obama-bucks just came in the mail today. -->

Everything will be fine now.

The mystery deepens (I'll use more smileys in this post to keep the smileys gods happy)
By the way me I cant see the clickable smileys anymore the ones on the left from where we post.

Everything will be fine now.

Obama bucks have this Mystique type of mutation: they alter their shape at will and they can mimic only other real or fake currencies
