None of the links, icons, framing, etc are coming up correctly. I can still read the topics, post, etc but everything else (like "Reply" or "Quote" or avatars or emoticons, etc) only shows up as red X's. Anyone else having this problem, or know how to correct it?

I dont have one similar problem. Perhaps you could make sure that your browser is set to show all images. Deleting history cache and cookies can help sometimes. Also, try with a different browser.

I tried deleting my GuitarZone cookies and my history.

"Perhaps you could make sure that your browser is set to show all images."

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that, but I checked my settings and they seem okay. I tried using Firefox and the same thing still happens. And I re-started again in case that might've helped.

It seems this happened after GTU went off-line last week.

Also, when I log on to the GTU site or go to another GTU page, at the bottom of my screen where it shows the it says "Done, but with errors on page." (I'm trying to do a screen-shot of my monitor, but I forgot how. I'll have to figure it out.)

I was asking about your browser settings just in case images were disabled as you say you cant see avatars icons quote reply buttons ect... seemed to be the problem but if you can see the sigs then its not that. Doesnt seem to be your board settings either but it wouldnt hurt to check.

I've got one IPS driver error message but only in the profiles:

IPS Driver Error
There appears to be an error with the database.
You can try to refresh the page by clicking here

Your case is baffling John. If you want to do a screen shot just press the "screen" key open paint >>> file >>> paste and upload it. That would help a lot to solve the case.

Here are two screen-shots of how the site looks on my computer. (Thanks for the information on how to copy a screen!)

It seems to me that something blocks you from viewing all images. You cant see my avatar you cant see my sig you cant see any buttons or icons or smilies... With the browser I use I'd fix that with the "show image" option... have you got a similar feature on IE?

Does it work if you put the url of a missing image in the location bar. You can try to find the url of the images via the properties of an image, or via "Tools > Page Info" or by checking the "View > Page Source".

And I know you said you enabled things, but just to make sure have you looked here: "In Internet Explorer, that's in Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and then in the Multimedia section of the list, there's an item Show Pictures."

Yes I do. (Right-click "Show Picture"), but it doesn't do anything. I can see the avatars of some members, but not others and posted pictures show up okay, but the other images and icons are mostly just red-X's that don't respond to trying to open up the image (although the red-X links work). And as you can see on my screen-shots there are no frame-lines around the different areas of most pages. I really don't have a clue what the problem is. I've "enabled" about everything I can find. Everything was okay until Friday when the site was down for awhile. When I came back in on Monday it was like it is now. I was wondering if (and forgive my competer-illiteracy) I could do something like a re-set back to how things were on my computer to an earlier date before last Friday. If that might correct it (and if there's any chance I might do something to my computer like lose any thing I've worked on since then, etc.).

No it doesn't work. (If I left-click a red-X avatar that doesn't show up (like yours), it takes me to your member page. It's funny how in some topics some of the members' avatars show up and some don't (including my own). None of the .gif images show.

I know one of the links takes you to the member page. For instance, if I left click your Avatar then go to properties there are two URLs there. One is an address page: http://www.guitarzon...?showuser=47841 which takes me to your member page and the other is Image Properties: http://www.guitarzon...ds/av-47841.jpg which is what you need to copy and paste in the location bar to see if you can see the standalone image.

And after reading an (albeit small) portion about your problem it seems that since it happens across different browsers it may be a security or adblocking problems. Have you tried lessening some security software?

It would be possible if you had made a backup image of your hard disk you could restore it now and get the settings of your browser exactly like they were before last Friday. I do one occasionally in case of crash. Better safe than sorry.

Now that message is very strange. Never seen one like that before. Could be one important clue to the problem.

And I like Audible's "security or adblocking problems" theory makes sense to me since you get the same problem with different browsers.

For some reason I am now getting a few more .gif images showing on my screen. (For example the "Student" and "Teacher" images now show.) and several of them on this reply-screen (like the "bold," "italics," "underline" "insert link" and a couple of others show up now. I can't open the properties address of the avatars in my browser. (It takes me to a page that looks like the "Internet Explorer Cannot Display" etc, page GTU defaulted to last Friday while it was being worked on.)

I checked my security settings and it's in the medium range (where it has always been) so that's not changed. As I was going through this-and-that yesterday looking for possible solutions I found (somewhere, I forget but I can find it again) a "system-restore" feature that says it can restore my computer to where it was at an earlier date. I didn't really get into it any further than that at the time.

As my computer is connected to a fairly large company server it would take quite a device to back up everything I have. However I do periodically save many of my more important personal folders and files that are on my personal hard drive to a couple of 8-gig SanDisc USB micro flash-drives.

I think I'll try that. I'm working on a couple of tabs now. They're probably safe, but I'm going to wait until I finish them before I do something that might cause me to lose them.

Yes, it's perplexing to me. All I did was turn my computer off and on for the weekend as usual. And then this problem with GTU (no other sites I visit have the problem). Actually it's something I could probably live with if I had to. (But no GTU emoticons show on my screen either. sad.gif )

Anyway...

I was thinking about the system restore you were mentioning and remembered I had to disabled it because its useless and can be dangerous. Suppose you fixed a virus that virus will remain in the system restore and be active again when you restore your system. Thats why like I said I prefer to do snap-shots every now and then.
