IE7 is the IE that comes native in Vista so that's why you won't find Vista downloads for it when they're working on 8. smile.gif
Haven't tried it tbh, though I should seeing how I tend to develop for web every now and then. I couldn't find wether it's still in it's Beta phase or finished...

I haven't been prompted to update to it yet. I never use IE for browsing though.

Yeah, I stole it.

It was released in mid March. I've heard some fun stuff about it like how alot of sites doesn't work with it because they removed some of the stupid IE-only features.
I haven't tried it myself. Firefox works for me and I don't see the point in fixing stuff that ain't broken.

I read the list of new features on Wikipedia and it seems they've incorporated some new and exciting stuff.

- Automatic crash recovery, restores pages you were viewing in case of a crash. Firefox has had that for ages.
- Web Slices, lets you subscribe to a small piece of a site.
- InPRivate security mode, now you can surf for porn without filling your computer with malware, or so M$ claims...
- Suggested Sites, lets Microsoft watch what you normaly do online and suggest similar sites. Big Brother's watching you watching porn!

IE8... We are testing that at work right now, and my only advice is that whenever Microsoft releases ~any~ updated application that includes a white paper on how to configure your old files to work with their new software... AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

There is a technote for website designers to make sure they put appropriate NEW meta tags in their web pages so they render correcting in "IE7 compatible format" for users that view the sites with IE8. That reeks of Microsoft yet again taking a global standard and ~tweaking~ it slightly so people will get hooked on their version.

They've been losing market share to Firefox and Google Chrome for a while, and this is no different than how they totally re-designed Office to try to shake users away from the standard interface people expect in ALL office apps these days.

Put it in a virtual machine if you want to play with it, but don't risk your machine yet.

Wait until IE8 SP1...
