So I'm looking into installing an OS on my ps3, but I'm not sure what to get. Looking into Ubuntu maybe...

I want something that won't take up a whole lot of room and that I can install my emulators on (doesn't look like I can install anything to the ps3 itself dry.gif). Probably need to install VLC as well.

suggestions?

Is it really worthwhile? From what I looked into the best thing to install is the version of Linux Sony supposedly recommends (Yellow Dog?), but even then it sounded like it wouldn't be very good.

Yeah, I stole it.

Yeah I don't know if its really worthwhile, but it would be damn cool to have my emulators right on my ps3. VLC isn't that big of a deal..I just had a lot of stuff that is .mkv

I guess it doesn't hurt to try it out. It read something about everything being deleted from the hard drive, but you probably saw that too.

Yeah, I stole it.

I think you would be happier with Yellow Dog on your ps3 than Ubuntu.
Ive got Yellow Dog on my other laptop and it works quite well, doesnt use alot of space, ram isnt over run, and uses minimal cpu.
Yellow Dog is also realy easy to use. Like a lightweight XP.
But Ubuntu also has alot of cool features that isnt included in Yellow Dog.
