hey guys n gals..

i am desperately in need for good advice from all the ppl here!!!

basically i am a vocalist who wants to do gigs for 150-300 ppl... i usually sing for my frend but now want to go solo.. i thought buying a PA system will be a good idea.. but really find it hard to know which one will suit me..

i sing on CD tracks (kinda Karaoke) so theres no need for musicians.. i guess i'll need two speakers a mixer and a decent microphone, also i would like to plug my laptop in the mixer tooo coz thats where all the music tracks are stored..

plz could u help me in suggesting something great value and nothing tooo expensive.. my range is upto 500 dollars.

You might want to check out the Passport series by Fender. They come in three sizes, a 150w; a 250w; and now a 500w system. Is this the top-of-the-pile sound-system? No, but it's a good value for the money, and for a lot of users (maybe like yourself) it's very portable and self-contained and easy to pack up and move around.

A few years ago my daughter (who does occasional small gigs) wanted a PA-system for Christmas (or her birthday, I forget) so I bought her the Passport 150w. After I got it home and messed with it a little, I liked it so much I went back to the store and bought another one for myself. I already had several other PA set-ups much more "pro" or more powerful, but that really fit a niche... small gigs and extremely easy set-up and break-down. (Everything tucks in, clips on, snaps on, etc into a single carried unit.)

When I bought that one the 150w was the only one they had (and soon after came out with the 250w). Now they also have a 500w. I paid about $500 for the 150w, but they're cheaper now and you can get the 250w for a little over $500. The 500w runs a little over a thousand.

They have several inputs and outputs. They come with a pair of mic's. (The biggest "weak-point" are the included Fender mic's which are pretty mediocre. I use SM-55s or 58s instead.) The systems have both 1/4" jacks and mic-pin jacks. The speakers snap off of the main unit and can be separated. An inclosure holds all the cables and mic's, etc.

Anyway, like I said, not a top-notch-pro set-up, a good one for the money and ease of use.

i am not tooo sure about this whole watt system.. i mean is 250watt better than 150watt?? i know i am asking a silly question but i am a total newbie to this! loll plus will 150 watt be enough for 300 people???

The wattage is how much potential power a system has to drive speakers, etc. It's hard to measure the power of wattage needed by the number of people (like 300). It depends more on the size of the room. On those Fender Passports, in addition to the increased wattage, each one has more features as well like additional inputs, etc (because it has the power to handle more).

I'm not familiar with that system you linked (the 100w Peavey), although Peavey is a reputable company. Your best bet is to try to locate one in a shop in your area and try it out, and if you like it either buy it there or online somewhere else.

For most smaller venues 100w to 150w is probably enough.

I hope it helped a bit. A reasonably good PA system is something a vocalist should have, whether being backed up by CDs as you mentioned, or singing with a band. A working vocalist not having his own sound-equipment is like a working guitarist not having his own amplifier.

Hey guys I dont know if im the only person looking for this in a server or what but i really want low to mid rate no less than 10x no more than 45x with a npc buffer, dont understand why there isnt any low rates with npc buffers. If anyone knows of a good server like this regardless of chronicle plz let me know?
