My brother (7 years old) is interested in learning to play the bass. He will definitely need a short scale bass - I let him hold my Strat and it was a decent stretch for him to reach the first few frets. Which is a better product, the Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro or the Squier Bronco? We'll need it to last him two or three years until he is big enough to comfortably play a full sized bass. Thanks for the advice.

at that age, it's probly best to let him try both out at the store and choose the one he likes.

Well he could actually start playing a regular scale if he wants. All he had to do would be to pluck the strings closer to the neck. Of course that is not the ideal position but as you said, he will grow up and then he will be able to play at the right position. That way you guys won't have to buy another bass in a couple of years.

Of course short scale is not a bad option either.

ibanez are generally more attractive to look at - which is probably one of the most important aspects to consider when buying any instrument .

1. does it look good ?
2. does it play well ?
3. does it sound any good ?
4. can i afford it ?

remember that i love you - no matter what i say

Bit of a problem here,

I own 4 Ibanez gits and swear by em but then for bass guitars Yamaha wipes the floor with ibanez

Theyre both great value though either way
