I am curious as to know whether there would be a difference in tone when using an EHX Graphic Fuzz just for the EQ functionality and then using an individual distortion or fuzz box for the fuzz tones. This is for when the EQ is on at all times, will it have much of an impact on the tone of the fuzz/distortion box when it is also turned on?

If you mean if the EQ of the graphic fuzz will affect the tone of the distortion box coming afterwards, then yes, the shape of the incoming sound (going into the distortion box) has been altered and thus will react differently. Though most fuzzboxes are such raucous devices that there's a chance you won't really notice the difference. In this case, put the EQ afterwards which should solve that.
I think the graphic fuzz will also colour the tone in signal gain. Even with the gain of the fuzz distortion rolled off, there should still be some drive added to the signal. Then again, this doesn't mean the sound will be fugly. Or it will be fugly good.

Well I am getting one of those Z-Vex Fuzz Factory units since I found one for a great price and I like the oscilating features it has to produce some rather weird tones. Naturally the EHX Graphic Fuzz has some good properties as a distortion box, but it doesn't sound like a true fuzz unit, and I want something that can at least do Hendrix-esque fuzz sounds and the fact that the Fuzz Factory does more is even better.

I have both those pedals. I would be interested to hear what you come up with.
What will you be putting it through?

We're all going to be just dirt in the ground.
