Amp is cirrently in the shop being re-biased and completely re-valved with JJs. It's a JCM800 50W Combo. Sounds awsoem as it is, so hopefully it'll sound even more so awsome very soon smile.gif

Anyone else re-valved with JJs?

P.s. gonna take a picture of the shop too, they must have hundreds of boutique effects in there. Hi Res for the geeks among you (us)

I am sure Chris would suggest them, what with his amp building and all. Stuff ain't cheap though that's for sure.

BATB; if you like them, then that's great, they're good tubes at a good price. I threw a set of JJ EL34s that I got from the Eurotubes guy into my JTM45 a few months ago, replacing a set of valve art kt66s (rebranded Shuguangs). They sound ok, but I definitely prefer Groove Tube's Mullard spec EL34 to the JJs, but at the same time the JJs were a cheap fix, and do it pretty well (I'm switching back to KT66s though) I'm not a huge fan of JJ's preamp tubes though. The 12ax7s I have in my amp are a tad uninspiring, I'm probably going to end up going nos for those, or Tung-sol reissues if I feel like paying less. Imo, they're brighter sounding and a little more open.

Tubes aren't cheap, but JJs are about as cheap as you're going to get.

I used those exclusively in my JCM 800 50W heads. They ran great in there. I also put them into a Blackheart amp. I've had less issues with their tubes than I did when I used Tung Sol and Ruby.

Well I thought my amp sounded amazing before, and they were unbranded ones, so hopefully it'll sound amazing soon smile.gif
