There's one in a pawn shop that I could get for about $150. I know it's a hybrid, SS preamp and tube power. But do they sound good? I'm not expecting much on the drive side, but is the clean good? I can always buy a tube preamp pedal and put in front of this if need be. I just want to know what these amps are like from people who have had them.

Not a ton of reviews are comiing up for this on cheapersounds.com but the reviews for the champion 600 are all mostly favorable. I have played with that amp in the past and was pleased with the sound of the clean tones.

I couldn't really find too much about it either, with google or yahoo anyway. HC had some reviews on it, but not enough to really help me define anything. I ended up buying it. It's actually not a bad amp at all, pots need cleaned and a jack needs replaced, but on a 17 year old amp with stock tubes (they say made in the USSR), I guess it's not bad for needing only new tubes and cleaning. The clean tone is really good, but that's because the power amp section is tube. The preamp is fine too, I mean the gain gets crazy fast, but for me it's workable with good pickups. I guess I took a chance, but it's a fairly good amp. I'm interested to see what new tubes and a new speaker will do.

The Champion 600 is absolute garbage, nuff said. And the Champ 25 I have never seen, the only Fender hybrid I was aware of was the Princeton recording amp which is hella overpriced.

If the Princeton is the only hybrid you are aware of, how the hell can you justify your opinion on the 600? huh.gif

Get yourself the FM25DSP instead, if you want a good practice amp.

That Champ 25 has turned out to be a good amp. Great cleans and even the drive channel is alright. It needs some tweaking, but I can get some good sounds out of the amp.
