Hi Guys

I'm just looking a bit of advice on how to progress my ability. I've always been a bit of a strummer but I want to improve. I want to learn how to pick a few notes etc inbetween the chords I play to improve my sound. I think what I'm trying to learn is transitions?? (excuse the spelling) between chords to make things a bit more interesting.

I'm also trying to learn a few easy solo's if you can recommend any. I've spent the time to learn Importance of being idle and can now play it quite well if that gives an idea of my ability.

Cheers

All help will be gratefully received as always. cool.gif

A good way to start learning any picking is to practice scales. It gets you more familiar with notes and will improve your accuracy with individual strings.

Spot on, learn and practice your scales. Major, Minor, and Pentatonic to start with.

A couple of easy beginner songs to get you started, try My My Hey Hey by Neil Young, and Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.

i think house of the rising sun by the animals and redemption song are good for that too in addition to the others
i started with hous of the rising sun myself smile.gif
to lead over from one chord to another it might be good to practice arpeggios too but if you keep on playing you will get a feeling for that
