The whole movie is based off of this jazz melody that gives a 40s'ish big band feel. The artist is Toshiyuki Honda. The songs to check are 'after all', 'metropolis', and 'sympathy'. I think 'Three-faced of the Zone' also has the melody.

heres a youtube for Metropolis.

and here is what Ive come up with (Really messy, but hey give it a shot.)

e|--3--3-33--1--4--333--33--44----6--6-6-4--7-6-66----6-6-6-4--7-6--

--3-3--1--3-3-3----3--3-3---1---4--3--33--44--6-6-6-4--7--6---6-6-6-4-7-6--4--

--/10--8---8h10--8h10--8----10--10-8--11--10--8----6-6--4--7--6----33--44--

--6-6-6-4--7--6---6p4-4p3-3/4-4h6-|

(Obviously I tabbed in a different key, just trying to throw the melody down.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A decent version (I guess) could be played using fingerstyle guitar. (I'm experienced in playing fingerstyle ragtime guitar styles.) The tune is in the key of Bb. Not a good key for guitar, but a good one for woodwinds and brass instruments and so was/is frequently used by ragtime-jazz bands. If you wanted to mess around with this tune (and keep it in the key of Bb) I'd suggest you put a capo on the third-fret and then work with it as if it was in the key of G, using G, D (and D7) and C chords. (And it would probably also move through an E7 and A7 in a few parts, as ragtimes often do.)

If you're experienced at playing fingerstyle you could pick melody notes using the index and middle fingers while keeping the progression and bass-notes going with your thumb. It wouldn't be extremely difficult for a fairly experienced fingerstyle-player to do a decent version of the tune solo, but for someone who plays with a pick it would be almost impossible without a backup band or at least another instrument chording the rhythm behind him.

And welcome to GTU.
