Why Georia by John Mayer would be a good one. It's got a really nice riff in the verse and the rest is easy strumming chords. I don't know if you've heard of Tom McRae but he has a song called Walking 2 Hawaii which is based on open chords and a lot of fingerpicking, it's simple but sounds quite impressive.

Great songs for acoustics. You can also try out some Eric Clapton. For a little bit harder songs try out:

Eric Clapton/Mason Williams - Classical Gas
Eric Johnson - A song for life
Joe Satriani - Tears in the rain

Yesterday is good, and Imagine by John Lennon sounds nice on guitar. The Goo Goo dolls have some beatiful acoustic songs but their tunings are kind of screwy. Check out Acoustic #3 by them, its really simple but can be fun to play.

Clapton, of course, has great acoustic. And I'm a huge DMB fan, so anything by them is good. Crash Into Me is easy, and absolutly beautiful.

When I'm not playing my own stuff
I like to play a medely of tunes on my acoustic

Specifically these three

Get Myself Arrested - Gomez
I wanna Be Like You - King Louie from the jungle book
My Iron Lung - Radiohead.

Granted none of these are acoustic songs, but I play them more bluesy than the original (so you'd need a little skill with the guitar in being able to add-lib and stuff)

But these are my favorites (and please don't laff at King Louie)

What are you on about?

Why play music solely for yourself?

People like to hear music played by talented individuals. It makes them feel good, especially if it something they can be involved in (ie singing a popular soing at a party or something).

Impress maybe wasn't the word you should have used here, electricaldomi, maybe entertain would have been better.

Besides you will probably already have a bit of Kudos just by being able to play the guitar.

This is a good acoustic tune, take a listen:

and if you want to hear the riginal "electric" versions its here:
