PRIMUS - SAILING THE SEAS OF CHEESE

Les Claypool - Vocals/Bass
Larry Lalonde - Guitar
Tim "Herb" Alexander - Drums

Primus, which seems to be the definition of "messed up music." It's been said before, and I will say it again, Les Claypool is a mutant. Being able to recreate themselves in each album, which very few bands can come close to.

Primus was formed in the late '80s. They released 2 independant albums. Suck On This and Frizzle Fry were released by the bands themselves and gave them a fan base, the "Primus Sucks Club."
After playing all the clubs, all the college radios, and everyone's friend's party, Primus was signed to Interscope Records.

Primus jumped in the studio and started recording their major label debut. Primus recorded 13 tracks that would make up their album. Including the fist pumping "Here Come The Bastards," the moshpit father "Jerry Was A Racecar Driver," the hard hitting "Those Damn Blue Collared Tweekers" and the funked out "Tommy The Cat." (formerly featured on their 2 independant albums.)

After the album was finished, it was released to anxious die hard fans. But the album was not the biggest success in its competition. After all, it was up against such big names as Nirvana and Pearl Jam. The grunge scene was ruling the times. Primus would soon claim their success in their 1993 second full major label, Pork Soda. Although Pork Soda can go up against Sailing The Seas Of Cheese with "My Name Is Mud" and "Mr. Krinkle," Sailing The Seas Of Cheese proves to be Primus' finest hour.

So far, Primus has come far since their days in the 80s playing at college radio stations. They have become one of the most recognized alternative rock bands of today. Primus and Red Hot Chili Peppers hold the title of the greates funk rock bands. But eventually, Primus whens the title. It's hard to understand Primus' music, unless you actually sit down and listen to it, and afterwards...you still don't understand it!!!

Primus will not change their growing sound for anybody. They will hold on to the title of the weirdest band forever. No one can recreate Primus' sound or image, it is simply impossible without losing your way and crashing your bus with the animated characters in it. That's why Primus is here to stay, and SAILING THE SEAS OF CHEESE is their greatest work.
Primus sucks!

I bet you'd dig Frank Zappa if you don't already. He's really weird too, but is also an amazing guitar player. I actually jut started to get into Primus by reading about Frank Zappa and the people he's influenced. Larry LaLonde happened to be one of them. Im gonna start working on submitting Hot Rats by Frank Zappa pretty soon.
