Ok so they pretty much are, but I have an old Acoustic I inherited from my mother. It's a 1970 Yamaha FG300 It's in decent condition considering I play it all the time, but it's had a small bow in the soundboard, around the bridge, that has become more pronounced lateley. I got this idea to use my pos webcam to investigate, and here are the results.
This blurry little pic shows the end of this brace has separated slightly from the sounboard, and there is a slight crack in the underside of the soundboard.(the bridge is located immediately to the left of this.)

I'm pretty sure that the glue joint on this brace has failed. because it looks like there is a slight gap here...You can also see what appears to be some sort of cotton gauze material that is somehow affixed to the underside of the soundboard. I have no Idea if this is common or not.(the bolt you see is the underside of the Gibson style tune-o-matic bridge. A feature I haven't seen on many acoustics.)

This brace also appears to be slightly separated from the soundboard.

If any of you luthier types would care to comment I would appreciate it...

Very impressive; you should patent the idea, before someone else does... biggrin.gif

Yes, it beats the hell out of the old wife's or g/f's compact make-up mirror tool.

I'm going to try improve it a bit. I almost burned my hand holding a small lightbulb down in there. I'm going to try using a high output LED, and I want to use a better quality camera. The one I have is the cheapest you can get, and is about five years old. They already have professional systems for luthiers, thats where I got the Idea. Now I just have to find a luthier that can repair her right.
Thx for the feedback!
