i want to finish the gig off with a soft acoustic cover

i want to play bridge over troubled water by simon and garfunkel but how would u change that to give it a unique feel, with the other guitarist in the band, we have just been playing it sounding like the original, but i dont want to perfect it to sound like the original music becoz my voice isnt as good as the original, i want to change it to an acoustic feel same chords just maybe played a different way

im playing it in the key of Db with tuning down half a step, so any ideas

If you want to be really original, go for a reggae version. biggrin.gif

That's one of the hardest that i can't sing. I'd choose mrs Robinson or the boxer...

When I did some S&G tunes I did it for two voices. I was singing low and my friend an octave higher. Hope it doesn't sound... No, it didn't sound anything like a boy band. laugh.gif

the bad thing about this song is its at the lowest of my singing range and the highest of my singing range, it has taken me weeks to get it good, but the guitar playing is just boring with the usual way its played, i dont want to completely change the music so its a different sounding song, and i cant sing it slower coz i cant hold the high part at the end for that long

what we are doing for now is im playing the original chords while the other guitarist is playing higher frets and only the 3 thin strings but keeping to the chords

but i dont know im likeing that idea but none of yous thought of it making this thread a waste of time tongue.gif but yeah

Look. We talk about one of the finest songs ever here, and one that's been recorded on piano. I've never heard an acoustic guitar version of this....

So the answer too is would be do it your way. Cauz we are all uniques indiividuals
I guess you''ll have to speed up a little the naural pace of it.

Very good idea to close your gig.

yeah i know its a piano piece and i was gonna play it on piano but i couldnt get my way around playing it and singing it so the way we play it on acoustics does sound very similar to the original

i think what we got is good, ill post the tab when i figure out what the other guitarist is playing

the only acoustic version of it ive heard was bon jovi and richie sambora playing it, but even then it was a bad recording off kazaa, but thats where i first heard the song so yeah

thanks dorio ur advice is always helpful
