Is it me or does the time of year have some effect on what you feel like playing?
It seems that every Thanksgiving I want to play a lot of John Denver songs ???
Food for thought??????????

I play "Lond December" by the Counting Crows in December. It makes me sad though.

There must be something with the change in seasons that has some effect on our moods that makes us play certain types of songs...a cloudy fall day has me doing simon & garfunkle..who knows ???

Three days ago we had a hell of a storm here in Houston. I sat inside and wrote my best song ever. I could feel the energy in the air and it pushed me though a mental curtain that will be a making spot in my life for however long this life lasts. I have been thinking with clarity and the excitement is still here. I can’t really explain it.

It's amazing how much power "the elements"have on us. I admire you guys who "write"...I know I can't...something is NOT in me to let the words come out........anyway, I found myself playing "My SweetLAdy" @ lunch today...thought no one was around and an hour afterwards, one of my co-workers asked me how long I 've been playing..my answer depressed the hell out of me:40 years.

There's something in the air about the autumn! laugh.gif I play a lot my classical guitar and I'm more and more into Portuguese fado. I'd listen for hours to Amalia Rodrigues, Mariza, Dulce Pontes, Madre Deus. That's relaxing, but makes me so lazy... cool.gif

In winter I have to play "February" by Dar Williams, and whenever I'm at the coast I play a ridiculous amount of Stan Rogers. "Let the Mary Ellen Carter rise again..."

I can relate. I have been playing almost exclusively acoustic, since the weather began to get colder.

I have other Counting Crow’s songs in my set list but I feel silly singing Long December in June. Maybe if I were in the southern hemisphere it would be different.

Fall has me cutting and splitting a lot of fire wood, sure comes in handy when winter gets here. Then I spend lots of time at the firing range, seems like I've been back there almost every day for a couple of weeks now. Many rounds have been put through the 44 and the 06.

I spect my favorite tune for this time of year would have to be Alice's Restaurant. That tune and Thanksgiving go together quite nicely.

The man's a lyrical genius, not to mention a musical genius. A new album is being eagerly awaited for!
