I've had a cheapo borrowed for about a year, and the little gal that it belongs to decided that she was gonna get her daughter some lessons on it. I sure did hate to see it go, it was my open D/slide machine.
Now I gotta go out and spend some money to get me another one.

cheapo guitars seem to have a rawness that just works well with slide.
i got a 3/4 size steel string for £1 nicely set up in open G, gives you the same sound as if it were off an old 20's recording.

i got a $90 3/4 sized guitar i use it in standard Eb Tuning so i dont have to detune my good guitars at all, but i rarly use it but i do like it, and when i get famous i want to set it on fire and play it in a video clip hehe shall be fun

i had a cheapo that i gave away, but it didn't sound good even if strung normally (i'm a lefty so i strung it upside down)
trust me this was THE worst guitar i had ever seen, everything you could imagine that sucked about it... did.

The cheapo I had borrowed was a Johnson. Made in China, and was real light, so there's not alot of material used in the construction, but the damn thing sounded pretty good and it stayed in tune quite well.
I've seen em brand new for around $80 American......I just might have to buy me one if something else doesn't pop up soon.
I didn't spend a lot of time with the open tuning and the slide, but now that it's gone...........well you know what I mean.
