hello all
ive been coming to this site for a little while but just now registered.
ive been playing guitar for about a year now. ive never taken any lessons, maybe i should??, but i can pretty much pick up songs by ear(same way with piano).
my current guitar, as well as first, is a jasmine(takamine) its a pretty decent guitar but i feel like im ready to move on up to something a little better. ive been looking at different models and brands and i would like you alls opinion on a good guitar. one thats caught my eye is the epiphone hummingbird. has anyone had any experience with this guitar? my price range is from about 0-500$.
i dont plan on gettin rid of my jasmine because ive got it autographed by Dr. Ralph Stanley, who is one of the founding fathers of bluegrass, so its pretty much gonna stay with me till the grave

-there is the epi hummingbird, it's nice.
-taylor came out with some mid priced models worth looking into, the 110 and 214.
-a low end martin might do the trick (by low end i mean it still kills most other acoustics)
i don't know how much these run for but if you've heard of simon & patrick they make a pretty nice acoustic as far as i can tell, they seem like they'd be mid-priced.

Why not buy a Takamine? Regarding the price and what they offer I'd choose them over any other guitar. They sound incredible, both plugged in and unplugged and most of them come with onboard chromatic tuners. I'm saving up for a Takamine meself at the moment.

he said he's already got one. i'm guessing he just wants to get a different tone.
by the way... always pester the guy to no end until he guarantees the whole thing is solid wood. no laminate crap.

the best way to find out what guitar is best for u is not get others opinions on brand names, becoz we all play the instrument different with different sounds and tones, eric clapton doesnt sound like shane bernard for instance but they are both good guitarists, so go to ur local music store and try out differen guitars in ur price range that you like

A Jasmine is the cheap arse Takamine, as far as I'm informed.
