I played a few of these at the music store the other day, I like em, a lot actually. My price range too. Im thinking I will pick one of these up as my new acoustic sometime in the future. Then again I didnt play 1000 doller taylors on the other wall.

I have an Alvarez that my son gave me as a Christmas gift with money he saved from his first "real job". (He plays a little, but not enough to understand my "Gibson-thing". But giving it to me meant a lot to him, and so I raved over it, etc, etc.) And in actuallity, it WAS a pretty nice guitar. Natural light-blonde finish with nice abalone decoration. It sounds very good too. I was surprised at the quality from a moderately-priced guitar like that (I think he paid around $650 for it). It's almost two years old now (since he gave it to me) and it still sounds just as good and the action is still great (after I initially set it up to how I like it). So as far as my experience with this one (and playing a couple others in guitar-shops) Alvarez makes a pretty decent instrument.

I'm an owner of a brand new Alvarez Regent-series instrument. I have nothing bad to say about it. The action had to be justified for me too, just as Dadfad did with his instrument. It looks quite great and sounds even better. For me it's the best choice since i don't have loads of money to purchase a Gibson or Taylor (it cost me about 350 Euro - I study and don't work sad.gif ) So i'm content!!!
