Bass Forum RULES
Hello and welcome to the Bass Forum! Before you jump straight into the many discussions in progress here, please take the time to read and follow these guidelines to ensure that your experience here is not a frustrating one. You’ll find that we’re a friendly and helpful bunch towards those who follow the rules.

1. Keep it bass related. This means – questions or discussions about basses, bass amps, bass effects, bass equipment, the recording of bass, bass techniques, bass players (love ‘em or hate ‘em) and bass lines. Performance tips and general discussion of live performances you have either seen or participated in is warmly encouraged – but please keep it real. No fantasy stories here please. Please make requests for bass tabs in the TAB Request Forum.

2. Read the FAQ for information regarding purchases for beginners. Topics with titles like “I’m A Beginner, What Bass Should I Get” will not get a good response because it is a vague, repetitive and open ended subject. If you have a more specific enquiry about equipment for a beginner (e.g. you have a couple of different models of bass in mind) then feel free to post your question.

3. Lively debate is encouraged but outright abuse will not be tolerated. Opinions should always be backed up with some sort of argument or reason. It’s not good enough to say “This sux because I say so” or to engage in “Is not – Is so” style arguments. Pointless and circular mud slinging will result in the thread being locked. If you leave yourself open for a flaming due to outrageous or unsupported statements it’s nobody’s fault but your own.

4. No swearing. Words like “crap” or “ass” are OK, but no hard swearing. Posts will be edited and a warning issued. Continued swearing will lead to all of your posts being deleted from this forum.

5. No racism or sexism will be tolerated. This includes misuse of the word “gay” i.e. if it’s being used as an insult.

6. Absolutely NO pornography or links to pornography in posts will be tolerated. Do not post images that may be deemed offensive (whether sexual or political). Offence is in the eye of the beholder, and the onus is on YOU to be aware of other people’s sensitivities.

7. Please, no “Who’s the Best Bass Player” topics. They only start arguments. Feel free to talk about your favourite bass player and what it is that makes him/her your favourite.

8. Be aware of how you present your posts. WRITING IN ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING. Please use standard punctuation and spelling. No TyPiNg LiKe ThIs and please keep abbreviated spelling to a minimum. Be aware that the ages of the people using this forum vary widely, as do their nationalities. The more clear your posts the less chance they will be misinterpreted. Using the smilies will help demonstrate the intention of your post so make good use of them. Try running your text through a spell check before posting. The Moderator reserves the right to edit posts to aid comprehension, but don’t assume that this is a free secretarial service – just make the effort!

9. No spamming. This includes advertising material (unless it’s for your own CD), blind links to other websites, wordless posts, pointless posts, one word posts and unrelated posts. Direct links to EBay auctions of interest are OK. This is not to say that you can’t recommend a particular book or CD - of course you can. Please be aware of copyright principles if posting a link to a song or posting sections from a book or magazine.

10. If you find a particular post offensive, please send a PM to Taffaroo or Junior01 (or use the “Report” button in the post) and they will deal with it. Do not use the report button for minor disagreements. It is not there for tattling or for PMs.

11. Do not drag fights from other forums into the Bass Forum. I cite specifically the Hotrod69 vs Imme fiasco. This is a benchmark – keep it private and keep it out of here.

Breaches of any of the above rules may result in your post being edited, locked or deleted. Continued breaches may result in suspension of membership or outright banning.
Lastly, but by no means least…

12. Be cool! We’re all here for the same reason – we love bass.

(Any issues not dealt with here? Send a PM to Taffaroo or Junior01)
