Hey, do you know any great sounding acoustic songs to play? I cannot think of any at the moment! Thankyou! And I've got a bit of a party coming up and no doubt I'll ending up playing after a few drinks, so I need some advice on what to play to get everyone singing and joining in!

Thankyou
Hayley

bob dylan and tenacious d always lighten the mood!

also try some led zeppelin stuff, but stairway is a wild card, either they'll love it or hate it.

As shane said, go with the classic's. I'm sure theres a list pinned on the boards somewhere "Great acoustic songs".
I'd recomend knocking on heavens door, for starters. Whiskey in the jar, maybe? Then some of the modern ones, maybe oasis's wonderwall. Take a look at that list, you should get a pretty good idea.

If you want something thats kinda classical/fingerstyle (though it isnt partey music, but good acoustic songs) you should check out:
Eric Clapton - Classical Gas
Eric Clapton - Signe
Eric Johnson - A Song for Life
Joe Satriani - Tears in the Rain

the solo version is played by clapton

it was written however by williams, and the full band version was also played by williams.

I know mason williams made it, but I meant the solo guitar version clapton made.

It dipends on what your party is like. there your frends, you should know what thy like. I like to play what they like, what they will sing to. If there a new cover song
done by a new band, like sherl crow, most will like it.

I find that Good Riddance(Time of Your Life) by Green Day always gets a good response.

You can also try: Incubus - Drive

hmmmm......Eric Clapton - Layla

uhhhhhh......Foo Fighters - Everlong That's a song that's fun to play acoustic, and sing along with)

eh, that's all i can think of for now.

I didn't read all, so someone may have said this. Back in black or big balls by Ac-dc. Both great. or for luahgs, sit in a circle around a fire and sing kumbaha

Wasn't the solo version also done by Mason Williams after he couldn't get the rights on his original recording to put on a "best of" CD he made? So he re-did it himself alone so that his uber compilation album could contain his one hit wonder song? laugh.gif

either someone lied to me, or kazaa lies... hehe

i'm not sure really, the origins of that solo recording are a bit ambiguous as i've never seen it on a clapton album. nor on any of his compilations. i have the LP of mason williams' full band recording. i bet he just re-did it. although i'm sure clapton is more than capable of playing it, i don't know if he's ever recorded it. if someone knows this better than me.... please tell me.

id recommend some led zeppelin such as "over the hills and far away" or "babe im gonna leave you" or some eric clapton stuff like "tears in heaven" and other stuff on his unplugged album...those are always fun

I'm not sure either, but Ive heard that its clapton that does the solo version. Though on a .gp3 file i have it says cameron bourgeois. That may be the guy who made the tab, but im not sure...it remains a secret..
