well,
already looking to add a third acoustic, only this time i'm lookin to go higher in price $700-1500. been looking at a lot of taylors, few martins, not so many guilds, and santa cruz's.
would a guild be worth the money, compared to the other top brands?
although i've never played one, they sound great, so how does the larrivee's compare also.
the few martins i've played have either been really nice or just kinda average and not worth the price tag on them.
taylor is what i've been really interested in.
and any information anyone can give me on the sounds of a santa cruz would be great too. if there are any other nicer guitars i've forgotten, let me know.
thanks in advance.

I'm not going to be any good to you with any brand other than gibson, really...
Martin, to get something decent, you'l be paying top notch, at new prices - might be best off going second hand.
Gibson - You could pick up a very good guitar for 1500 in immaculate condition if you knew where to look. Depends on what kind of gutiar your looking for/what you want the guitar for.

taylors really sound great but haven't tried anything outside the 300 series area... but that's cuz i'm a lefty. everything is hard to come by (even a MIM strat!)
martin's under 1000 probably aren't in your best interests.
if you can find a gibson for under 1500 go for it!
as for guild, i've never even seen one up close.
and if you go shopping for the guitar, bring someone along so you can hear what it sounds like while playing and while watching. taylors are renowned for sounding totally different from above/infront.

If You like a very deep mellow cool sound go for a martin! You won't find anything like it awesome boomy bases and cool mid range/high range. I really like the cut away models. Just try a cut out... play like three and i GUARANTEE one of those three you'll fall in love with

Pick what you like; yours is the only opinion that matters. I do know one thing: you won't find a Santa Cruz model for under $2000. Every guitar is different (even within same brands and models), so it is hard to classify all Martins as this or all Taylors as that. Guitars are like women--they're all different and you'll be attracted to certain ones.
I don't think you could go wrong with any of the brands you've mentioned.

Well put. Very well put. Unlike the other ejjits trying to push this brand and that brand.
"Here, try a sammick! Best guitar i've ever played, beats a Gibson any day!!!".
Try out a few decent guitars in stores, see what you like. Take it from there.

I have only heard good things about Tacoma. Excellent bang for the buck. Their $1000 guitars can be comapred with the average £2500 Martin.
The thing with Taylor is that they have very thin tops which give it that distictive Taylor tone. However it has been remarked that these don't age well.
