i never tried acoustic on acoustic amp... the church i was playing has this ovation celebrity and i tried it on a regular electric guitar amp and it sounds like a dry electric guitar not what the metallic acoustic sound i expected... does an acoustic amp make a big difference? does the amp the one gives you that acoustic tone?

yes... very much so. if you're in the market for one of your own. go balls to the wall and get an SWR strawberry blonde... if you really wanna kick out the acoustics, get the bigger SWR california blonde.

sometimes the SWR's sound a bit electricy to me, i have a small Genz Benz Shenandoah, though not as loud as I would have hoped it would be. If I could have gotten anything, I would have gone with an AER, and you can always try Ultrasound (good price) or one of the Fender Acoustisonics(?).
