I have at present a Yamaha LL 11-E (lovely sounding acoustic guitar) with an external amp and pickup etc, but I really would prefer to fit a pickup to it, so it's more convienient to gig with.
Does anyone know how I'd go about turning it into an electro acoustic, and approximately how much it would cost? I am a student after all! biggrin.gif

To be honest, if it's a nice guitar, your better off not to go drilling bloody holes in it! Get a good fishman pickup, set you back maybe fifty sterling maximum. That will have you sorted, you wont get much better quality. A fitted pickup can sometimes just ruin a guitar... Some of the factory fitted ones are allright, but your still miles better off with a good soundhole fitted or under the bridge temporary pickup made by fishman or bags, or one of the better names. If you still did want to get a pickup fitted, it would obviously involve drilling holes for the EQ and the jack. The EQ will have to be put in perfect, so it fits with the curve of the guitar. Shouldnt cost too much, but if your going to fit a pickup, at least fit a good one.

sounds a bit risky to me, with all the drilling that would be involved, my advice would be if you really want to put in the pickups to take it and have it done, by someone who knows what they are doing. if its a nice guitar i would not want to risk f-n it up.

Heh, thanks guys. Cian, do you reckon I could get that job done at a local guitar shop?
