As I've mentioned here a time or two, I'm in the market for another guitar. I screwed around and let somebody beat me to a nice used Martin right after the holidays, and have been thinking pretty seriously about a Takamine.
I stopped in at the local music store to see if they had the new Takamine shipment in and was taken by the looks of some new Alvarez guitars hanging in there. They are the FD60 models. I picked up a couple and was damn impressed.
Any of you folks tried one? The shop has em marked at 500 and change, and I'm sure thinking about goin that route.

Well thanks there buddy, but I done went Canadian.
I drove over to the next town to the east cause a guitar playin friend of mine told me to....hahaha, he said there were real nice folks at the music store and that's where he does all his business.
They have some Seagulls hanging on the wall and I played around with a couple of those...nice, real nice. They didn't have a cutaway in stock, but they ordered me one with an electronic upgrade and a case. I put half down, so I guess I'll be the proud owner of a Seagull in a few days.

Go ahead and talk about it, Josh! I'm a Gibson-guy mostly, but I have an Alvarez too (an AJ-60 I THINK it is, 60 or 80...I forget). And it's a pretty nice guitar. Natural blonde all around (there's a good joke in there but I'll let it go.....). Feels good. plays nice, stays in tune and pretty to look at. Alvarez is up there on my list.
