I done it, I put half down on a new guitar today. I've been frettin about it for months, I've played a bunch of different brands and almost bought a Takamine, then thought I was gonna get an Alvarez, but I made the decision today.

I ordered a Seagull S6+CW with a case and upgraded electronics. It's not anything flashy, but then neither am I. It's very well put together and sounds sweet.

I'm about as excited as a kid around Christmas for it to get here.

After the one Rebecca showed me, I thought about getting one.

Yea, Seagull was my first guitar. Bought it a couple years ago and it is an awesome acoustic. Sounds great and the wood smells good too, tongue.gif

That one stays in DADGAD now, and it's lovely. smile.gif

I'm gonna keep the Seagull in standard tuning, at least for a while. I put open D on my little Ibanez.....gotta raise the action just a tad though so I'll quit slammin the frets with the deep socket.

I've been singin' the praises of Seagul/A&L for a while now. My A&L AIM (classical)
is really easy for me to play ( I have arthritis and a bad neck) Good luck with it. rolleyes.gif wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif

They're very nice guitars, I play one myself. It's technically my mom's but I play it more often than her. smile.gif It's a Grand Artist, from what I can remember about the name. It's smaller than a typical acoustic. Eventually when I buy an acoustic for myself, I'll probably get a Seagull or a Garrison (I've never played a Garrison, but I hear they are really nice, especially with electronics). Plus, they are both Canadian made (a big plus for me, I am from Southern Ontario). But I'm looking for an electric right now.

I also have been preaching the greatness of Seagulls. I hace a S6 CW, and it's got the greatest sound. A friend tried to swap me a Taylor for it. No Way! That lacquer top scratches real easy though. But I'm hard on things. Enjoy!

The lady at the music store told me that the guitar I have coming has a different finish on it....not the real slick finish, but more of an oil looking finish...she was a bit apologetic about it.

Now I had my head up my butt, and should have acted like I was disappointed and asked for a bit off the price.......instead of being the smart shopper, I just grinned like the ignorant hillwilliam that I am, and told her that was great cause I like a less slick finish better anyway.

Some folks are quick on their feet, not me, I have two speeds....slow and slower.

Now if you'd told her that as a child you'd been kidnapped by French slavers who chained you up inside a secret armoire factory in a sweat-shop just outside Marseilles forcing you to French-polish armoires to a matte-finish for three years until you were rescued by Oklahoma paratrooper commandos which left a tremendous psychological aversion to matte-finished wood, she might have dropped the price ten or twenty percent.

Dad, next time I go shoppin fer a new geetar I'll just have to take you along. You can do all the talkin, and all I'll do is grin and nod my head.

I was at a disadvantage from the get go. The little gal that was runnin the place is cute as a bug in a rug. I was settin there tryin to lay some Zepplin on her..intro to Over the Hill and Far Away, and she's just smilin and tellin me how good it sounds........now there ya go, she had me, hells bells, she probably coulda sold me one a those Gibsons that you like sooooo well, and I'd a never known what hit me.

Good thing those Seagull seconds were the most expensive things in there or I might be out lookin for a job.

Man, I thought I was too old to be affected by a pretty girl like that, but ya know, now that I think about it, that might be a good thing, that ole spark is still alive. I bet if the local guitar store had a cute little gal workin that I woulda bought that Alvarez a week ago.

Yep, when it comes to those pretty girls ole John is just easy.....I'm a slut. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

By the way, Oke. My daughter's sellin' this bridge in Brooklyn. Real nice bridge, too. She'll let it go real cheap...... laugh.gif

(I already bought one just like it from a sweet young thing just last week)
