Does anybody know where I can get some plans (hopefully free) for making an acoustic guitar from scratch? I finally decided that I would try it, and if I ###### it up, O well

http://www.mimf.com (Musical instrument makers forum) is a good place to start, I've been able to find plansets for bass recorders, bozukies, and pocket clarinets so I'm pretty sure they'll be able to point you twords a decent guitar construction page.

Lots of places sell plans or you could design your own.Be warned though you need a few specialist tool when building an acoustic. Thinknessing calipers and a bending iron for example. They the bending iron you and get away with if you use an inside mould and boil the ribs.

Have fun anyway.

If your not good with wood, I would get some help from someone with a little experience.

Woods are expensive and if you do mess up, it'll hurt your check book.

A friend of mine decided to go look into that and decided that it would be cheaper and easier to make an electric. He kinda cheated by buying a ready made neck. But then again, thats what I would do also.
