Depends on what you want to get. It depends more on the string material than on the actual brand.

I love phosphor bronze strings. They sound dark, worm and nice. Addario makes them, La Bellemakes them, Ernie makes them. Right now I use Dean Markley phos Bronze.

You can always buy some Martin strings too. They're good.

But if you like metalic clear tone, but some prolonged durability coated steel strings, like Elixir Nanoweb.

I would suggest trying Everly's.I just got turned on to them, and love them,i use 10's on my acoustic, and they still have good bass, not "twangy".
Musicains friend has them 3 for under 10 bucks.

When asking for "The best strings", your going to get loads of answers. But really, if you want to try the two ends of the scale - try Elixir 12's and then try a decent set of Martin's, see which you prefer. I got a new guitar strung with Gibson J200 strings, and the sound was so rich and full. When the strings needed replacing, I got another set of Gibson strings, I think they were "Resophonic" strings. I found them complete crap... I'm thinking I might go back to using elexirs though, I'm not sure how they would sound on my gibson. Either really good, or really bad i'd guess. We'll soon find out!

I played on my friends Martin with elixir 12's. It sounded SO good. He also said that those strings lasted him for a very long time. I suggest to buy those, but then again, it all depends on the guitar.

Elixirs, you either love them or you hate them. I quite like them.

Different strings for different things... I've got a set of martins on my yamaha at the moment, and they have a little more "definition". Less bassy than the previous set.

...but for the love of god, I can't remember what the previous set was.
