But I can't even spell it to do a search.
I've been messing around and making up some stuff but I need to get some C.D.s and hopefully I’ll find some tabs or a book. Can anyone steer me in a direction? I don't want to necessarily learn a song. I just need some pointers to set me off writing in that style. It would be badass to crank out some cool ass Latin flavor.

well, you might have better luck in the guitar q and a, but i think the best kind of spanish music to start with is maguina (cant spell either lol)
If you would like an example of maguina I would be happy to give it to you

Well that site is good for mostly classical songs, the site I linked him to has a wide variety of Mexican music, including mariachi. I guess it would be hard to search for stuff without speaking spanish (BTW my parents are mexican). Anyway, you may want to try searching for some of the most famous Mariachi singers in mexico which would be...Vicente Fernandez, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Pedro Infante, Antonio Aguilar, Javier Solis, Pedro Vargas, Luis Aguilar...for starters.

the weed site i suggested before is a good one, but i dont think you want to play mariachi. if you listen to it the guitar is a chord stuck staccato over and over. it basicly goes

pum ta pum ta pum ta pum ta
