How much did you purchase this item for? about $520, but that was with bargaining for a while with the man at the store, and included a hard shell case. List price is $500
Where did you purchase this item? Local music store - Advanced Music
Is this item new or used? Brand Spankin' New

Features: 4 knobs - 2 Volume, 2 tone
Pick-ups from the Gibson factory
22-fret Mahogany fingerboard (w/ trapezoid inlay)
Switch between rhythm pick-up, treble pick-up, or both

Construction: Haven't had a problem here. The man at the store said that without the proper casing and such, the switch or the head could break off. However, if you buy the hardshell case that is made for the guitar, and you take good care of your guitars, this is not a problem.

Sound: Beautiful. Turns the crappiest amps into an amazing sound, and the best amps into an even better sound.

Ease of Use: Very easy to use. Beginner, Intermediate, or Expert.

Reliability: Great, you can count on any tone for any type of music. Whether you're playing classical, hard rock, blues, soft rock, classic rock, country, pop or even rap, you can count on this guitar.

Overall: 10/10, perfect

How much did you purchase this item for? $1299
Where did you purchase this item? Shire Music, Sydney, AUS
Is this item new or used? New

Features: Tunomatic Bridge, 22 frets, cherry sunburst finish, 2 humbuckers, 3 way pickup select. 2 volume, 2 tone knobs. pickguard fitted. this guitar is also left handed. fitted with gibson pickups instead of standard epiphone pickups. also came with gibson les paul hardshell case.

Construction: pretty solid, good contruction. only problem is a few black marks (pen or texta) on the plastic around the neck pickup....otherwise fine.

Sound: awesome sound.....very powerful humbuckers...big meaty tone when played with alot of distortion......clean sound average but who plays a les paul clean right..its just not made for being played clean.

Ease of Use: action nice and low when i first purchased it....easy to play though les pauls are quite heavy....otherwise well weighted and good overall playability.

Reliability: very reliable...havent had any problems.

Overall: still quite overpriced but a great guitar all the same......if you cant afford to buy the gibson model this must be the next best thing....the sound isnt that great with standard epiphone pickups but if you upgrade to some better pups (at an expense) you can a very very nice sound.

How much did you purchase this item for? £329
Where did you purchase this item? "Aire Guitars" They had an ebay shop, for their actual shop, from whcih I got a phone number rang up and ordered.
Is this item new or used?New

Features: Gibson Humbuckers, and everything else thats standard on the Epi Les Paul Stds.

Construction: Good overall, the scratchplate bit feels a bit loose though.

Sound: Brilliant, can play so many different tones and varieties of songs, and they all sound great.

Ease of Use: Very easy, realised quickly what everything did (apart from those 6 flappy wire type things that run the whole way up the guitar still cant get those to work properly tongue.gif )

Reliability: Owned for a month or two, no problems, even dropped it once by accident (well actually it was my straps fault), and it survived.

Overall: 10, Great.

I think they are great guitars for the money but when I had mine, a lot of stuff went wrong. The "cream" binding was more of a yellow not "creme" and it was a poor binding job and looked like crap. Also, the volume/tone control pots went bad after like a month. Made me mad so I got rid of it and got a mich better guitar. I like the older epi standards. They seem like they have a better quality to me. When I get the money, I am going to get one off Ebay.

How much did you purchase this item for? It was an X-Mas gift
Where did you purchase this item? Guitar Center
Is this item new or used? New

Features: 22 frets, a mahogany body, rosewood fretboard, cream body and neck binding, Epiphone USA pickups, mother-of-pearl inlays Tune-O-matic bridge piece, Grover tuners, Herritage Cherry Sunburst color (mine is) biggrin.gif

Construction: It is a very sturdy guitar

Sound: The sound is awesome! With the overdrive or distortion on it gives it that great chunky sound that Les Pauls have a reputation for. And on clean it sounds absolutly beautiful.

Ease of Use: 1 Volume and 1 Tone for the bridge, 1 Volume and 1 Tone for the neck, and a 3-way pickup selector toggle switch. Pretty easy to me.

Reliability: I always trust Gibson/Epiphone guitars. It is a very reliable guitar

Overall: Overall, I give it a 10 out of 10 on all the features.

How much did you purchase this item for?
380. USD w/ HS case
Where did you purchase this item?
Local Guitar Shop
Is this item new or used?
Used

Features:
Nothing special its a guitar, 2x tone, 2x volume, 3 way pick-up selection- im happy it doesnt have a floyd rose main reason i bought.
Construction:
Decent, nothing special- has a bolt on neck, really pretty paint job- tobacco flame i believe. It could have had a better wiring job, i sometimes get feedback and crackles when i turn the knobs.
Sound:
Kinda muddy compared to my ESP w/ active EMG 81 & 85 pick-ups. not great sustain. but other than that it has a very vintage sound to it.

Ease of Use:
Peice of Cake
Reliability:
so far so good
100%
Overall:
Good beginner guitar, or second guitar if you jst want to mess around with. Its a heavy guitar so if your a small person and gig alot you might not want this guitar. Its probably one of the best beginner guitars for the money- i like it better than a strat.

I purchased my EP Standard about 2 years ago. It has has a few problems such as: The treble/rhythm switch (the piece that screws on the actual switch itself) has come off. Plug in screw keeps loosening up and needs tightening.
Overall it's sound quality is worth the money. I will be going with a lighter guitar in the future and probably some floyd rose pick-ups.

How much did you purchase this item for? $500
Where did you purchase this item? a friend (he bought it at Steve's Music Store in Ottawa)
Is this item new or used? It was used, but was only bought new 2 months prior to when I bought it off of a friend.

Features: Mahogany body, rosewood fingerboard, grover tuners, 22 jumbo frets, anything a normal Les Paul would be.

Construction: Pretty damn strong. I haven't had much time to abuse this guitar extensively yet, but it's been knocked around pretty good since, and it can take a good punch.

Sound: Sounds great. It can handle distorted tones very well. The treble humbucker delivers a nice crunchy, yet smooth tone. It's great for rhythm work. The Rhythm humbucker is sooo smooth. Sounds great for solos. I'm not impressed with its clean tone though. It's very muddy.

Ease of Use: Other than the massive weight of it, and the difficulty to reach the higher frets, it's alright. I find when I play sitting down, the lower part of the cut-away digs into my leg, and the upper back part of the guitar digs into my ribs. I suppose it's maybe because I've gotten so accustomed to my SG. But other than those discomforts, it's great.

Reliability: Pretty decent. My only problem with the guitar (and I find this is a problem with my SG aswell) that the G string, and often the B string (on LP only) go wildly out of tune, even if I'm not bending much. I use Ernie Ball 10s. Maybe the tuner thign is just loose. I don't know, but it gets annoying tuning your guitar every 2 minutes. And because of that, I *probably* wouldn't use it for live situations very often, until I got that problem fixed.

Overall: Hey, it's a great guitar for a good price. I still love my SG moreso, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Mine looks like this:

How much did you purchase this item for?
€500

Where did you purchase this item?
Small music shop in Drogheda, Ireland

Is this item new or used?
New

Features:
Two volume knobs, two tone knobs, 2 pickups, tune-o-matic bridge and stop piece and a 3 way pickup selector.

Construction: Sturdy job, set neck, mahogany body, maple top, rosewood fretboard. The only problem I've had construction-wise is that the plastic thingy fell off the pickup selector. Nothing a bit of supergluecouldn't fix though.

Sound:
Reasonable, although I later put a set of Seymour Duncan '59's in it, and it's a different guitar now.

Ease of Use:
Comfortable to play. A bit heavy, but hey, it's a Les Paul.

Reliability:
Still alive

Overall:
I'm only giving it 6/10 because I thought a guitar at price should be better sounding. But after forking out almost €300 extra for the new pickups, I now have an excellent sounding guitar at a grand total of €800.

How much did you purchase this item for? $400, out of the box, plus hard case, strap and a few freebies
Where did you purchase this item? Guitar Center, Fresno, CA
Is this item new or used? New

Features: 22 frets, dual humbuckers, laminate finish, fretboard and body binding, Grover tuners

Construction: Very well built. Don't see anything coming loose for a very long time, if at all

Sound: Very thick, with a good rhythm sound too. Treble has tons of kick. Great sustain as well.

Ease of Use: Plays like a charm. No problems whatsoever.

Reliability: I trust this guitar to do anything I'd ever need it too.

Overall: 10/10. Pretty much a Gibson without the name. Sure, the parts aren't Gibson, but there really isn't much of a difference at all. Only thing I'd change (and will change) are the machine heads. They're great, but I just like the classic green tulip ones better, comsetically. Just a note, they look MUCH better in person than in pictures... you really have to see it to get the full idea. The finish is really nice, especially the bursts.
