How much did you purchase this item for? About $240 including tax

Where did you purchase this item? Rudy's in downtown Manhattan. Of all the music stores I have been in over the past 25+ years Rudy's is by far the best music store I have ever encountered.

Is this item new or used? New

Features: Five knobs- level, gate, comp, drive, stab; special human graphic number 4 of 4

Construction: As good as it gets, top notch, point to point, actual 1960s germanium transistors, probably an oscillator or two, made by somebody who knows sound with a mad scientist's state of mind.

Sound: The fuzz to end all fuzzes. If it is a fuzz, it is in there, somewhere. And there are sounds in there that you would probably never expect to hear come from a stompbox. Most stompbox companies are way too conservative and conventional to try some of the stuff Zachary Vex does. The Fuzz Factory makes sounds that sound like a short wave radio breaking down or a tube amplifier being shut off. It can squeal in a plethora of frequencies. And it can pitch bend. Yes, it can Whammy. Yet, it is not digital. It is all analog. You can get conventional fuzz sounds as well. Extremely psychedelic.

Ease of Use: Very easy to find interesting and weird sounds. It is also easy to make bacon frying squeals come out of the fuzz factory. The "useful" fuzz sounds, the ones you could actually use in pop tunes like "Spirit In The SKy" and "Satisfaction" and that Edwyn Collins tune, are in there but can require much tweaking.

Reliability: As good as it gets. This box is up to code. It passes the inspection. The antithesis of cheese.

Overall: Construction and reliability-wise the Z Vex Fuzz Factory is right at the top of the pyramid. Anything better than this is almost incoceivable. Zachary Vex knows sound and knows how to create it. A master. On a par with all the greats. The Fuzz Factory, as nice as it is, is NOT for everybody. A psychedelic freak with avant garde noise tendencies such as myself should have a Fuzz Factory. Somebody looking for a predictable fuzz for playing those fuzz favorites of yore needs a DOD FX series Classic Fuzz for that. And somebody who will spend the bucks for a Fuzz Factory should also check out simpler, less complicated, less forward-thinking, clones of Fuzz Faces and Tone Benders and Jordan Bosstones. Those fuzzes usually have one sound, usually the perfect sound. The Fuzz Factory, however, will change the way you think and send you in new directions. Gets a MISTERHAT AWARD for the most psychedelic fuzz unit.

Features: 5 Knobs - Vol , Gate , Comp , Drive and stab. Hand painted steel chassis and new-old stock germanium transistors.

Construction: Fantastic. Hand made , Hand painted. Sturdy large knobs and all around great quality. Awesome design too.

Sound: Crazy. The whole spectrum of Fuzz from miniscule pretty fuzz to blistering mind numbing sticky fuzz. Incredibly versatile.

Ease of Use: Its simple to get useable sounds. But just as easy to get some freakish crazy sounds that'll catch you off guard. Im the sort that loves crazy sounds so I love most settings. You cant really go wrong.

Reliability: Well , I received it yesterday wrapped in a rag tied with a hair tie , I undid the hair tie and Smash! the bloody pedal smashed to the ground. Absolutely still in mint condition , working absolutely fine. Landed directly onto the knobs too. Batterys also can last up to 3 years.

Overall: The mecca of all Fuzz..
