Hi Guy's

Im putting together an entire chapter of research on the accoustic guitar dedicated to accessories.....

What is the most you've paid for an effects pedal.... or paid for the best strings...

What brand of strings do you regulary buy... why..?

plectrums...! we always loose the little buggers.... but why do all of us still have that special pleck that has been chewed on vigurously over the years....( I have this plectrum in my wallet which i keep for luck... I have it about six years, i never use it but i cant play a gig if i don't have it on me)

guitar cases, holders, stands, capos... anything..!!!
from tuners to lemon oil......
I'd like to learn about various brand names, websites on accessories....

feel free to comment

I paid $29 for a set of Savarez strings. I keep a tuner and a cheap capo in my case along with picks and $10,000 in small bills.

All I really need for acoustic is a few light picks, one medium, and one hard.
Oh yeah, and a tuner on occasion. I can do it by harmonics most of the time though.

For electric, I need an amp.
Wait! I don't have my amp yet.

Acoustic strings, I spend 20 euros on Elixir's and dont think twice about it - but I usually have to up' the G gauge so it doesent break... Other than that, not a whole pile else expensive as far as acoustic goes. I have a kysler trigger capo, brillient thing. I've got a bottleneck and steel slide. Lots (I mean lots) of hard pick's, I only use the non-flexible ones. That's about it.

most i've payed for strings is 20$ for elixir's

i have 2 capos (just incase i lose one)
a tuner
Truss rod adjuster/screwdriver tool (this thing is so damn handy, and no it's not an allan key)
2 slides (1 glass, 1 brass)
several picks
2 straps
i usually use elixirs but i've been testing martin's on my acoustic lately and quite frankly on a taylor, they give NO bass response. to describe the sound it's like a treble booster with some light chorus and the low frequencies totally cut. it's shrill, but after a few days they "warm up" to the taylor.

Five bucks for Martin Silk and Steel strings, the best sounding, I've found (tried D'Addarios, snapped to easily, Fender, sounded horrible, and Elixirs were tres expensive and didn't sound as good as the Martin's). I keep my Kaiser Quick-Change Capo, glass slide, baggie of tons of picks (I'm partial to the Dunlop Nylon .38 and .46, though the Fender thins are nice till they break), my truss rod adjustor is in there, extra set of strings, small notebook and pencil for those 'brain farts' of ideas. Haven't gotten around to cleaning supplies, I usually clean my baby when I change strings, but only with a cloth. And I keep my trusty Korg CA-30 Chromatic Tuner around, haven't gotten the ear for tunings just yet...Oh yeah, and I keep a Fender Thumbpick in there too...for kicks.

String-wise I use Ernie Ball Super Slinky gauge 9's on a couple of my electric guitars, then some gauge 11's on the ones i have in DADF#AD or Open-G Tuning. Uusally retail at around a £fiver a apack but I get discounts.

I have a Kyser trigger capo in each of my guitar cases (usually retail at around £15 I think).

Pick-wise, I use the red Dunlop Tortex 0.5mm picks for everything, acoustic or electric, but I bend them about horizontally before playing them. I lose picks like anything, but they're cheap so it's no big deal.

I've got a £4.99 Dunlop plexiglass slide somewhere. I'm not fantastic at slide to be honest, but I seem to be able to do it better on acoustics than I can on electrics.

Straps are by Dunlop at £15, or by no-name at £5.

I use Dunlop lemon oil for the fingerboards, cost £1 I think.

My tuner is a cheap Stagg one which is actually surprisingly accurate, comes in handy because whilst I'm alright at relative tuning I'm not very good at listening to notes and being able to tell what they are.

My cleaning cloths cost me nothing, they're made from pairs of old shorts, the fabric is the right sort so it won't scratch the guitar and won't leave fluff everwhere.

The majority of my cables are now Venom, they're good quality and aren't too expensive. There's a few Fender, Peavey, etc andhome-made ones too. Usually pay about £8 for a 3m cable, same again for a set of four right-angled patch cables.

That's about all my accessories (not including all the tools and stuff I bring along). As for effects pedals........ I've got a fair few, too many to go into in detail at the moment.

I have two acoustic guitars.

I have a tuner (and one inbuilt in the Takamine's hardware). That's the Korg Ga-30, methinks.

I have a Kyser Trigger capo that I use for gigging and a Shubb C1 capo that I use with the other guitar. As well, I have a Dunlop wrap around thingy pissing about somewhere.

I have a Zoom 504 MultiFX processor for acoustic guitars (could do without that fellow though).

I always buy Martin Bronze Acoustic strings (medium gauge).

I have fretboard conditioner, string lubricant/cleaner and guitar polish made by Gibson.

I have a peg puller/stringwinder by Epiphone.

I have an Epiphone strap on the acoustic and a nice Dunlop strap on the Takamine.

As for picks, I usually play everything with my fingers. Sometimes I play with really light picks (Tortex) though. I always keep one of them in my wallet.

Regarding cases and bags I have a hardshellcase for the Takamine and a Ritter gigbag for the other acoustic.

i bring my other pedals too in case i might need them

i bring a spare strap in case i need it and stop people from ripping my good ones off my guitars with out asking- i put them on in away so they can't slip off- not so they can't be pulled off by someone determined enough

the kit is pretty handy- especially since no one else in my band thinks of bringing anything they might need- they power adaptor and jack connectors are some ones that really get used every practise because of other peoples neglegence

i forgot screws and washers also come in handy as do small bits of wood and metal for prodding things and the like
