Hey, Im looking at buying this guitar off one of my friends. I havent seen it yet but he says one off the balls that u put the string through on the bridge is broken off (high E). Is this reparable? If so is it costly or inexpensive?

Sounds like you are talking about a peg. They cost about 25 cents. To get the old one out with the ball broken off, just drill a little hole in the middle of it, then run a small screw into the hole, and use the screw to pull it out. Be careful with the drill!!!

O ok that sound pretty easy. I've taken wood working classes at school so that should be no problem.
The guy I'm buying it from doesnt know anything about guitars so hes selling me the guitar for dirt cheap because he thinks its "broken" laugh.gif
Thx a bunch!

OUCH!!!
How about just taking the strings off and pushing it out from the inside? Even if it's really REALLY tight it should come out with at most a few careful taps with something like a block of wood screwdriver handle.

My friend has an Aspen with a missing peg...and he refuses to buy a new one. He just drops the ball end of the string in and goes to town...been that way for a few years, hasn't been a problem at all.

Yeah, push or tap it out from the inside. It's usually pretty easy.

How the heck does one break a bridge pin? Something must have smacked the guitar pretty good for it to shear off like that. Inspect that guitar carefully!

Nah, sometimes the plastic ones can just break. I've had one break (low E) but the guitar was pretty old. String tension got to it... The top just snapped.

It's a Yamaha Eterna EF-15
ok thanks for the advice. im planning on restringing it so ill try to push it out from the inside. If it wont move ill try the drill thing.

I'm not sure how it actualy broke off but the guitar is like 24 years old so who knows! unsure.gif

Afer reading the replys I think most people thought I was suggesting drilling into the wood!. This is incorrect! ohmy.gif
I have a dremel, I USED A VERY SMALL DRILL BIT TO PUT A VERY SMALL HOLE. In the peg only. then pulled it out with a screw. If you get into the wood you'll mess up your bridge.
However tapping it out from the inside is a much better idea, If I had any common sense I'd have done it that way. laugh.gif

Please unless you KNOW what you are doing, don't take a drill anywhere near that poor guitar......................................

Yeah, I picked up on that in the first post. And if you have a steady hand it's not going to be all that hard now is it... If one gets stuck they are impossible to get out by hand, and if you've got a small sound hole worse again.
